Littleton Public Schools is proud to announce that two of its high school students earned a perfect composite score of 36 on a recent ACT test. On average, less than one-tenth of a percent of students earn this top score making this an incredible accomplishment for Michael Thurber of Heritage High School and Atlee Witt of Arapahoe High School. According to ACT, “among test takers in the high school graduating class of 2014, only 1,407 of nearly 1.85 million students earned composite scores of 36.”
The ACT is a national exam that consists of tests in English, mathematics, reading and science. While colleges look at other factors in addition to this test, ACT scores play an important role in the admission process.
Michael Thurber is a senior at Heritage. Highly invested in the Speech and Debate program, Michael competes in the category Duo Interpretation. An accomplished singer with the Heritage Concert Choir and Show Choir groups, he is also described by his school guidance counselor as an outside-the-box thinker. Thurber says he hopes to attend the University of Chicago and would someday like to be a writer for a television show.
Atlee Witt is an Arapahoe junior who is actively involved with Student Council and the Arapahoe Link Crew. With a perfect 4.0 GPA, Atlee is taking several Advanced Placement courses this school year and is also a member of the varsity lacrosse team.
LPS would like to congratulate Michael and Atlee on this outstanding achievement!
